NJ Monthly Magazine ranks the Public High Schools throughout the State of NJ. Of the 337 Public High Schools, Kinnelon was Ranked #3!

KHS was also named by Newsweek as one of the Top High Schools in the nation! FYI The 3 indicators used for ranking categories were School Environment, Student Performance and Student Outcomes!

School Environment category includes the sum of the standardized rank scores per student/faculty ratio; the number of Advanced Placement (AP) and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) subjects offered; percentage of 11th-12th graders taking at least one AP or IB test in any subject; and percentage of students in grades 9-12 taking at least one course in visual or performing arts. The Student Performance area is based on the sum of the standardized rank scores for students scoring 1550 or better on the SATs; and the percentage of students scoring a three or higher on AP tests or four or higher on IB tests. The Student Outcomes section considered the sum of standardized rank scores for four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate (the number of four-year graduates divided by the number of first-time ninth-graders who entered the cohort four years earlier) and the percentage of students enrolled in a two or four-year college 16 months after high school graduation.

When weighting the categories, overall student performance score was assigned a weight of 2.0. The AP/IB participation score and the 16-month college enrollment score each received a weight of 1.5.

The SafeWise Report recently named its top 100 safest cities in America! Mayor Roobert Collins comments “I am extremely proud of our community being recognized for being safe. I think it this is a reflection of not only our police department but our community as a whole. I have said time and time again that we live in an exceptional community and I think this is a validation of that.”
